One of the darkest chapters of our Australian history was the forced removal of "half-caste" Aboriginal children from their families. Children as young as infants were stolen.
Aboriginal babies were born in this country, in nature, close to their mothers. In this painting, I show the connection between mother and baby,
sees that her baby is born with light skin. She is using dark ochres and charcoal to hide her baby' to keep it from being noticed as a "half-caste."
